The Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) has commended the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) for a significant operation that led to the seizure of over 360 bales of counterfeit diapers in Community 12, Tema—equivalent to two full 40-foot containers.
The bust, carried out on Thursday, July 24, 2025, followed targeted intelligence that led the FDA's Tema enforcement team to a residential property where the fake products were uncovered.
According to the CPA, the counterfeit diapers were imported by a company allegedly operating under the name Natural Power. Authorities discovered that the importers had attempted to disguise the shipment by falsely labeling the goods as “Disposable Plywoven Bags” under HS Code 392329, instead of the correct HS Code 9619 for diapers a clear attempt to evade detection.
In a related operation, two additional containers—believed to contain similar counterfeit products were impounded at the Meridian Port Services (MPS) terminal in Tema. These containers, reportedly linked to FK Clearing Cleaning Logistics (trading as Ness-D Diapers), were abandoned in June after the clearing agent fled the scene, raising further alarm over the scale of illegal diaper imports.
The CPA praised the joint efforts of the FDA and Customs, emphasizing that their swift action may have spared more than 2.5 million Ghanaian children from exposure to unsafe and potentially harmful products.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 28, CPA Executive Director for Media and Arbitration, Nana Prempeh Okogyeabour Aduhene, called on law enforcement to ensure full prosecution of those responsible. “We urge the relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice to deter others from engaging in similar criminal acts,” he said.
He also revealed that the CPA has identified two more companies suspected of importing fake diapers and will be forwarding their information to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for further investigation.
This operation marks another milestone in the FDA’s ongoing crackdown on counterfeit goods, coming just months after the destruction of over 1 million fake diapers in April 2025.

CPA COMMENDS FDA FOR MASSIVE BREAKTHROUGH ON FAKE DIAPERS IMPORTERS SYNDICATE AS OVER 360 BALES OF FAKE DIAPERS WERE SIEZED AT COMMUNITY 12 TEMA.
The CPA is much elated that the FDA has intensified its fight against the importation of fake diapers in the country.
On Thursday, the 24th of July 2025, the FDA enforcement team in Tema and acting on intelligence seized approximately 360 bales of fake diapers at a house in Tema.
The quantity of these fake diapers is about two containers of 40 40-foot load. This shipment was imported by a company called NATURAL POWER, where invoices of the consignment at the Tema port were declared as Disposable Plywoven bag (HS Code 392329 instead of 9619) to outwit customs and FDA officials.
Another two fake diaper containers that have been impounded by customs at the port parked at MPS port for FK Clearing Cleaning Logistics (Ness-D diapers), had the clearing agent running away and leaving the containers to their fate since June 2025.
The CPA duly also commend the Customs officials for rising up to the occasion and saving over 2.5 million children of this country from health implications as the result of the use of these fake diapers.Buy vitamins and supplements
The CPA therefore recommend both the FDA and the GRA Customs Division to hand over the importers to the police or National security for prosecution, which will serve as a deterrent to others who want to follow the same.
The CPA, upon intelligence has discovered two more importers of fake diapers that we will officially write to the NIB for further action. Attached are pictures of fake diapers seized on Thursday 24th July 2025 and two other containers impounded by customs with fake diapers.
This is in line with the commendation of the FDA when it seized and burnt over 1 million fake diapers in April 2025.
