A vehicle was extensively damaged after a fire broke out late Friday night near the Sports Stadium on the University of Ghana campus, prompting a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
According to a statement shared on Facebook, the Legon Fire Station received a distress call at exactly 10:17 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, reporting a car on fire within the university grounds.
A fire engine was dispatched within a minute, and firefighters arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with both the engine and interior ablaze.
“The crew responded with precision and urgency,” the GNFS stated.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in just four minutes, successfully preventing it from spreading to nearby structures or posing a threat to pedestrians.
While no injuries were reported, the car sustained severe damage and was largely reduced to a charred shell. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and investigations are underway.
The GNFS has reminded the public to report fires immediately and to keep a safe distance from burning vehicles due to the dangers of explosions and toxic fumes.
