Bolgatanga Technical Institute Closed Indefinitely After Violent Student Riot

The Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH) has been shut down indefinitely following a violent student riot that left parts of the campus in flames.

The unrest erupted late on Thursday, August 14, and continued into the early hours of Friday, August 15, destroying the school’s library and the senior housemaster’s office.

The cause of the disturbance is still unclear, as neither the police nor school authorities have issued an official explanation.

Education officials ordered the closure to protect students, staff, and school property while investigations proceed.

The full scale of the damage is yet to be determined, but no injuries have been reported.
