Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, is set to depart the capital city on Tuesday, September 2, en route to N’Djamena, where they will face Chad in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture.
The squad, led by head coach Otto Addo, has been holding training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium in preparation for the Group I encounter. Only twelve of the 24 invited players participated in Monday’s session, though the full team is expected to be assembled for Tuesday’s flight to the Chadian capital.
Ghana currently tops Group I with 15 points from six matches—five wins and one loss—and will be looking to extend their lead with a win on Thursday, September 4. The match will take place at Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. local time.
The team is expected to hold its final training session in N’Djamena on Wednesday. A victory against Chad would further solidify Ghana’s position as front-runners in the group, boosting their chances of securing a spot in the 2026 World Cup, which would mark their fifth appearance at the tournament.
Following the fixture against Chad, the Black Stars will conclude their qualification campaign in October with matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
