Azumah Resources Ghana Limited says it is currently holding confidential negotiations with Engineers & Planners (E&P) in an effort to resolve a commercial dispute between the two companies.
In a statement released on Sunday, 13 July, the company described the discussions as "constructive" and "grounded in good faith", and said they are being conducted within the framework of Ghana's legal and regulatory systems, with input from relevant government ministries.
"Azumah Resources is currently engaged in confidential, good-faith negotiations with Engineers & Planners (E&P), with the shared objective of achieving a constructive and mutually acceptable resolution to the present impasse," the company said.
The development follows growing public interest and media commentary surrounding the dispute, including comments made by Ghanaian policy analyst Bright Simons.
Azumah Resources has distanced itself from Mr Simons, stating that he does not represent the company or its shareholders in any official capacity.
“Mr Bright Simons does not represent, act on behalf of, or speak for the Shareholders or Directors of Azumah Resources Ghana in any capacity,” the Board said, adding that his remarks should be regarded as personal opinions.
The company urged media outlets and members of the public to avoid speculation or reporting that could undermine the negotiation process. It encouraged all stakeholders to rely on official statements for accurate information.
Azumah Resources also addressed media references to the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), clarifying that while discussions took place in Lomé in 2023 regarding potential financing, EBID’s interest remained preliminary and subject to internal review and Board approval.
“Any extrapolations beyond this context are both inappropriate and unauthorized,” the company said.
Azumah reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and acting in the best interests of all stakeholders, including the Republic of Ghana.
