The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has urged residents of the Greater Kumasi Metropolis to strictly observe directives from the Manhyia Palace as preparations advance for the burial of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
As part of the arrangements, schools and markets are to remain closed on the day of the burial. However, essential services such as pharmacies, banks, fuel stations, restaurants, and transport operators have been exempted from the restrictions on movement.
Utility providers and other key service agencies — including the Electricity Company of Ghana, Ghana Water Company Limited, the Ghana National Fire Service, Ambulance Service, and health personnel — have also been granted exemptions.
In a statement signed by Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the ARCC directed that all exempted workers must wear their official uniforms and carry valid identification cards for easy recognition. Additionally, they are to use official government vehicles when commuting to and from work on the day.
“All exempted institutions and essential workers are advised to cooperate fully with security personnel and other regulatory agencies enforcing the movement restrictions,” the statement emphasized.
