Apple set to launch iPhone 17 in September

Apple is gearing up to unveil its iPhone 17 lineup, likely scheduled for a September debut. Although the tech giant hasn’t confirmed anything yet, various leaks hint at an all-new range that may include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and a top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max — or potentially an Ultra variant.

At launch, the iPhone 17 is likely to be the only variant powered by the A18 chip. In contrast, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are rumored to come packed with the more advanced A19 Pro processor. As for the freshly added iPhone 17 Air, it’s expected to operate on the regular A19 chipset.

Apple traditionally showcases its new iPhones during the second week of September, typically opting for a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to host the launch event. Looking at previous rollouts: the iPhone 16 was announced on Monday, September 9, 2024; the iPhone 15 dropped on Tuesday, September 5, 2023; the iPhone 14 debuted on Wednesday, September 7, 2022; and the iPhone 13 launched on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

In keeping with its usual schedule, Apple is expected to open pre-orders that same week on Friday, followed by the official release a week later. If the company sticks to its established timeline, the iPhone 17 lineup will likely be revealed between September 8 and 10. Pre-orders may go live on Friday, September 12, with retail availability kicking off on Friday, September 19.

The iPhone 17 series is expected to debut in India with a starting price around Rs 79,900. However, both the standard and Pro variants may see a bump in pricing. This anticipated hike is being attributed to revised trade tariffs that originated during the Trump administration. As tensions between the U.S. and China continue to rise, manufacturing iPhones in China has become more expensive, which could lead to higher retail prices globally.

In the U.S., the base model of the iPhone 17 is projected to be priced at roughly $899.

Meanwhile, in the UAE, it’s likely to launch with a starting price tag of around AED 3,799.
